Complaints Procedure
All participants in
any of the club's activities, whether members, guests or
visitors, are reminded that the club exists for the
enjoyment of all sections of the LGBT community and their
friends. People of all classes, faiths and ethnic
backgrounds should be treated with respect and dignity and
no discriminatory or inflammatory remarks, intimidation or
harassment will be tolerated.
In the event of any person whether member, guest or
visitor, making a complaint about the conduct of any other
participant during any of the activities of the club, the
committee shall meet for the purpose of hearing the
complaint.
The complainant must submit their complaint in writing
addressed to the Committee. The complainant should outline:
date of incident, details of the complaint and the name of
the person(s) whose behaviour is the subject of the
complaint and the names of any persons who witnessed the
incident. The complainant has the right to remain
anonymous.
The Committee will designate 3 committee members to examine
the complaint, and contact the person against whom the
complaint is made in order to obtain their statement which
shall be in writing.
The 3 members will consider the evidence and prepare a
written report for presentation to next Committee meeting.
All participants will be contacted in writing (to include
email) to inform them of the outcome of the investigation,
and of any subsequent action. The person(s) against whom
the complaint is made has/have the right of reply to the
report, and the right to present mitigating evidence, and
this reply together with the mitigating evidence shall be
further considered by the Committee which may or may not
alter its decision.
The Committee shall have the power to suspend the
membership of any member of the club pending the outcome of
the consideration of the complaint, and shall also have the
power to refuse that member, or if not a member, any other
person the subject of complaint, the right to participate
in any of the Club’s activities.
